DIXON – Grab your holiday cheer and head out for a winter wonderland of festive art and music for December’s Second Saturdays Art Happenings on Saturday, December 11, 6 – 8 p.m. at locations on 1st Street between Peoria and Hennepin Avenues.  Five venues feature a variety of visual and holiday musical happenings by area artists from Rock Falls, Sterling, and Dixon.

Your December trek is neatly compacted on First Street between Peoria and Hennepin Avenues making for an easy winter walk to venues.  Waterfront Gifts features Silverware Jewelry by Sterling artist, Jill Weber.
A couple doors down at JSalon, Rock Falls artist, E. Jayne DeMarco shows new and recent work with paint and beads.  Jayne specializes in unique portraiture.  Her amazing Bead Portraits feature various iconic figures created by thousands of beads.  Past shows include: solo exhibitions in Sterling, “drip, drip, drip”, and “pockets empty, canvas loaded”, in which Jayne donated art supplies to area schools, and “Wing & Teeth:  The Art of Doomtree, a group exhibtion in Minneapolis, MN.

Books on First offers it’s “Visiting Art at Books on First” featuring a rotating display of area visual artists, and music by Todd Lorenc from 7-9 p.m.  Across the street, Trein’s Jewelry showcases brand new Eastern Eurpean Art Glass, many pieces starting at $40.

Slide on down to The Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe and check out oil paintings by Bob and Marilyn Tower and pastels by Lisa Higby LeFevre.  Once there be greeted with carolling by Steve Catron and friends and a wreath making demonstration held out on the street by Distinctive Gardens, Bud LeFevre.
