Dixon is located in the heart of northwest Illinois, just 100 miles west of downtown Chicago. Rockford and the “Quad Cities” of Rock Island, Moline, East Moline and Silvis, Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa lie just to the northeast and southwest of Dixon.

Dixon boasts a well-trained work force and stable local industry. Government is Dixon’s largest industry, providing nearly 1,300 state jobs. Lee County, the City of Dixon and local schools add nearly 950 more jobs in public sector employment. KSB Hospital and Raynor Garage Doors are Dixon’s largest private employers.

The Dixon Area Chamber manages the Lee County Industrial Development Association to facilitate retention and recruitment activities for the county. The Lee County Enterprise Zone provides incentives to businesses locating in Dixon and in the LCIDA industrial parks.
