ieza-upmawardIllinois Chamber and Illinois Development Council Present “Edies” to Recognize those who Imagine, Design, Invest, Build and Bring Jobs, Growth and Prosperity to Illinois Communities.

Five Illinois Economic Development projects were presented with Edie Awards at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting in Chicago June 25. Governor Pat Quinn, keynote speaker for the luncheon meeting, praised their accomplishments in creating jobs and investing in Illinois.

Dixon Hotels receive National Awards

qis-night-smDixon, IL (May, 26, 2009) – The Quality Inn & Suites and the Comfort Inn hotels of Dixon, IL were recently announced as a recipients of  prestigious 2008-2009 Platinum Hospitality and Gold Hospitality Awards, respectively, from world lodging leader Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), franchisor of the Comfort brand.

New fine dining Italian restaurant opens!

basilDIXON - The opening of Basil Tree Italian Restaurant has been a year in the making.  Co-owners Mili Dalipi, 26, and Sal Azemi, 37, work and live in Chicago; the two men have been making the commute to Dixon to renovate the building at 123 E. First St.

They had a soft opening Wednesday; doors opened officially this morning.  Although it's taken longer than anticipated (they had hoped to open in August), things haven't gone exactly as planned (they lowered their menu prices when the economy took a tumble) and there have been some unforeseen hurdles to overcome (getting their liquor license was tricky), the partners said they're just glad to finally be operational.

Dixon Chamber's next BAB being held at The Next Picture Show

Developer reviving long-vacant building

New owner will flip former nursing home on North Court

DIXON - Someone's been cutting back the weeds and clearing out the musty rooms at the old red brick buildings on North Court Street.

On Sept. 20, SunLee Developers of Loves Park bought the two buildings tucked between a church and an apartment complex at 135 North Court, with the intention of cleaning and flipping the property to a new owner.
