DIXON - Observers at Veterans Memorial Park listened and saluted during Tuesday's rifle salute, while industrial trucks trudged along the wet streets and construction equipment chugged in the background.

The Veterans Day ceremony was a commemoration of the sacrifices of those who gave up part of their lives so Americans can live and work under the freedoms they defended.

DIXON - Friday is POW/MIA National Recognition Day.

To mark the occasion, the Rock River Valley VietNow Chapter will conduct a flag dedication ceremony at 7 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park

The chapter will present a flag to members of the park commission, who will then raise it to honor the sacrifice and service of POWs and MIAs from all wars.
