The Key to Downtown Revitalization

dix-main-street.jpgSince 1996, the Dixon Main Street has been an active, strong and exciting organization focused on the betterment of downtown Dixon and the city as a whole. We are an organization built and sustained by countless volunteers who are passionate about the services and events that Main Street provides. Our mission statement is simple: To foster a spirit of community teamwork and to strengthen, revitalize, and broaden the economic base of the community area, while improving the appearance of the downtown area, and promoting and marketing Dixon as a vibrant place to visit, work, shop, play and live.

The Dixon Main Street is conducting its annual fundraising campaign throughout the month of August. The campaign is baseball themed, with the rally cry of “Let’s get some funds!” This year, Dixon Main Street ’s goal is to raise $20,000 during the campaign.

“Dixon Main Street has been such an exciting organization to be involved with this year that it reminded me of the excitement with the Cubs and Sox right now,” R.J. Gabaldon, Main Street board member and campaign co-chair said. “We are confident that we can knock one out of the park for Main Street with this campaign.”

Funds generated from the campaign will go to help off-set the cost of downtown festivals like the Scarecrow Festival and Christmas Walk. It also helps to fund other programs such as the Fourth Grade Architecture Tours, Lunch and Learn programs and Musical Fridays.

“We have added several new events to our calendar this year for the Dixon community,” Melissa Mehrens, Main Street board member and campaign co-chair said. “Our goal is to provide as many resources and programs as possible for the city and we are able to do that through the generosity of the community.”
