Mayor's Message

Welcome to Dixon.

The city of Dixon, with a population of 16,000, was established in 1830.  It is the official Petunia Capital of Illinois.  Each year more than 200 volunteers plant and maintain 30,000 pink petunias along the main streets of the city.

It is a city with many historical connections, including the Boyhood Home of President Ronald Reagan.

The city has a sizable and diversified industrial base and is home to Raynor Door Company, Rayovac Corp. North America Distribution Center, and UPM Raflatac.

Dixon is a quality city offering more parks per capita than any other city in the midwest.

Our public and private school systems provide quality education to about 4,000 students.

The city has an exceptionally high level of citizen involvement spearheading the development of a riverfront master plan and the revitalization of our downtown.

Dixon offers a wide variety of homes with several residential developments -- planned or in progress.

It is a city with a high level of energy and is a great place to live, work, raise a family, and play.  We urge you to take a good look at Dixon.  We are confident you will like what you see.

Mayor James G. Burke
City of Dixon, Illinois
