On February 12, 2012, at approximately 7:48 p.m., Dixon officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Eells Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, Brandon M. Frey, age 25, had an outstanding Whiteside County warrant for Failure to Appear. The Lee County Sheriff's Department K-9 was requested for assistance. Subsequent investigation resulted in approximately 193 grams of cannabis being located inside of the vehicle. The suspected cannabis has an estimated street value of $1500.00. Frey was additionally charged with Possession of Cannabis 30-500 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was turned over to the Lee County Jail.
Anyone with information in regards to any illegal activities is asked to contact the Dixon Police Department immediately at 815-288-4411, or Crimestoppers at 1-888-Caught-U (1-888-228-4488). Callers do not have to leave their names and are eligible for rewards of up to $1000.00 with information leading to an arrest.
The charges are merely an allegation and all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty. |

On November 29, 2011, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Dixon Police Department arrested Avary C. Farster, age 23, of 817 South Ottawa Avenue on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Failure of Duty of Sex Offender to Report Change of Address. The arrest was made after members of the police department surrounded a house located at 927 Grant Avenue. Officers learned of Farster's whereabouts earlier in the morning and attempted to make contact at the residence. Farster refused to exit the house but later surrendered after a short stand off.
During a search of the residence, officers recovered just over 2 ½ ounces of cannabis and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia. Officers also recovered over $1,300.00 in cash during the arrest. The cannabis has an estimated street value of about $550.00.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending for the possession of cannabis and the drug paraphernalia.

The Dixon Police Department would like to announce the arrest of Christopher C. Owens, age 19, no permanent address, in regards to a Home Invasion and Armed Robbery that occurred on 11/24/11.
On 11/24/11 at approximately 1:10pm, the Dixon Police Department received a 911 call of an individual indicating that she was robbed at knife point. Officers were dispatched to 610 West 1st Street and upon arrival met with the victim. The officers were advised by the victim that Christopher Owens kicked in the front door of the residence and was armed with a steak knife. Upon entering the residence, Owens approached the victim and took an undisclosed amount of United States Currency from the victim. Owens then fled on foot from the residence. Officers located Owens approximately two blocks from the scene of the crime and he was taken into custody without incident.
Owens was transported to the Dixon Police Department and processed. Owens was charged with Home Invasion (Class X Felony), Armed Robbery (Class X Felony), Armed Violence (Class X Felony), Criminal Trespass to Residence (Class 4 Felony), Unlawful Use of Weapons (Class A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Damage to Property (Class A Misdemeanor). Once processing was completed, Owens was turned over to the Lee County Jail.

Reagan Home Wraps Up Centennial Season |

Well, it had to happen eventually. The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home will be closing for the tourist season at 4pm on Saturday, November 12, 2011. The home will still be open its normal hours (10am – 4pm) that day for tours, with the last one taking place at 3:15pm. The home will re-open for the 2012 season on Sunday, April 1, 2012. The “Reagan of Illinois” Symphony to Celebrate Ronald Reagan’s Birth, which premiered earlier this year in Dixon, is one step away from receiving, potentially, four Grammy award nominations! The categories they are considering it in are: Best Orchestral Performance, Best Contemporary Classical Composition, Best Long-Form Music Video and Best Engineered Album, Classical. What an honor for the talented people who wrote, conducted and performed the piece and for Dixon and for the memory of our favorite son. |

The City of Dixon is pleased to announce that the 2011 Street Maintenance project is progressing. The project began with manhole work and grinding of various streets. The first hot-mix was placed yesterday and continues today. This $565,000 project is being completed by Fischer Excavating from Freeport, Illinois and is being paid for using Motor Fuel Tax funds.
The streets that will be re-surfaced with this year's project are as follows:
4th Avenue from Hubbell Drive to south of Galena Avenue
Prospect Street from 4th Avenue to Johnson Avenue
Johnson Avenue from Graham Street to Ferris Street
Armeida Street from 4th Avenue to 2nd Avenue

The Dixon Police Department would like to announce the arrest of Christopher C. Owens, age 19 of Dixon, for Burglary (Class 2 Felony). On 09/08/11, the Dixon Police Department was contacted about a garage that was burglarized on the southwest side of Dixon. During the course of the investigation, Owens was developed as a suspect.
On 09/08/11 at approximately 11:00am, Owens was arrested at the Dixon Police Department. Owens was processed and turned over to the Lee County Jail. The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests may be pending.
The Dixon Police Department is also alerting citizens to numerous vehicle burglaries that have occurred within the last 5 days on the southeast side of Dixon. Vehicle owners are asked to lock their vehicles, remove any valuable items such as I-pods, purses, wallets, tools, and cellular telephones from their vehicles and keep them secured inside their residence.
