Even / Odd Parking Regulations Adopted for Snow Removal On December 5, 2011, the Dixon City Council adopted a new parking ordinance for snow removal. The ordinance is very simple and will improve efficiency while reducing cost to the city. Residents will only be allowed to park on one side of the road following a snow of 2 inches or greater until the snow is cleared. The side of the street residents will park on depends on the day of the week. This is how it works: Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.: • On even numbered days (ex. – December 20th), cars will be required to park on the even numbered side of the street (ex. – the side of the street 320 West 9th Street is located on). • On odd numbered days (ex. – December 21st), cars will be required to park on the odd numbered side of the street (ex. – the side of the street 321 West 9th Street is located on). Streets with parking on only one side of the road: If parking is allowed on only one side of the roadway, the Even / Odd parking rules still apply. Situations will be handled on a case by case basis. Exceptions will not be made for residents who have a driveway. Residents who do not have a driveway or who have a medical condition should contact the Lieutenant of Operations or the Chief of Police to discuss their specific situation. Once the snow has been removed, normal parking regulations will be in effect. This ordinance does not apply to the "Central Business District". Regulations for the Central Business District: Definition: River Street to the south side of 2nd Street and the east side of Crawford Avenue to the west side of Highland Avenue. There is "No Parking" in the Central Business District, which includes City parking lots, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Penalties: Vehicles which are in violation of the new "Snow Removal" parking ordinance will be subject to tow and a $75.00 fine. If the fine is not paid within 10 days, it will increase to $100.00. If the fine is not paid within 20 days, the action will be pursued in court with a minimum fine of $150.00 and a maximum fine of $500.00. Administrative impound fees and a towing fee will be in addition to fines.
