Reagan Way Reconstruction - Informational Meeting

The City of Dixon will be hosting an informational meeting for anyone interested in the Hennepin Avenue (Reagan Way) Reconstruction Project.  The Meeting will be held in the 2nd Floor Council Chambers located at Dixon City Hall, 121 W. 2nd Street, Dixon on Monday, April 7th at 4:30 p.m.

 

The meeting will present the scope of the project including the Traffic Control Plan that will be implemented during construction.  The first phase of the Traffic Control will be installed on Monday, April 19th and construction will begin on Wednesday, April 21st.  The project is expected to be complete by the end of September.

 

This project includes road improvements from River Street to 2nd Street consisting of pavement, sidewalk, and curb and gutter replacement, along with drainage improvements.  This project also includes lighting upgrades on Hennepin Avenue from River Street to 3rd Street.

 

Northwest Illinois Construction Company from Rock Falls, Illinois is the contractor for this $842,042.40 project.  American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and Surface Transportation Urban (STU) funding will be used. 

 

 

 
Hennepin & 1st - Flashing Signals

The City of Dixon is pleased to announce that the reconstruction of Hennepin Avenue (Reagan Way) from Third Street to River Street will be starting later this spring.

 

In preparation for this project, the traffic signals at Hennepin Avenue and West First Street will be flashing red in all directions beginning on Tuesday, March 16th.  With all signals flashing red, the traveling public shall treat the intersection as a 4-WAY STOP.

 

After the reconstruction project is complete later this summer, the intersection will remain a 4-WAY STOP with Stop Signs as the traffic signals will be removed during construction.  Please use caution when traveling in this area with this change in traffic control.

 

 

Please note:     Information regarding the schedule of the reconstruction project will released in the near future.

 

 
Work slated for spring: $582,000 in federal money will pay for bulk of the project

DIXON – Water contamination notices are a thing of the past: The city’s efforts to purify its well water have brought it in compliance with Illinois EPA requirements, said Shawn Ortgiesen, director of Dixon Public Works.
