The City of Dixon is pleased to announce that the construction of the Riverfront / Heritage Crossing Project is continuing to progress.  The project includes a riverfront plaza area with multi-use paths along the south bank of the Rock River from Peoria Avenue to Galena Avenue.

In order for the construction to continue and work to begin at the intersection of South Hennepin Avenue and  River Street, Fischer Excavating, Inc. will be implementing Phase 4 of the Traffic Control Plan beginning on Monday, May 18^th (weather permitting).  This phase will close River Street and the intersection of River Street and South Hennepin Avenue to thru traffic from Peoria Avenue to Hennepin Avenue.  Please note that businesses in this area will remain open and will be accessible.  Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow the traffic control signage as marked.

The upper plaza area is scheduled for completion at the end of June and the lower path area is scheduled for completion near the end of July.  A Riverfront Dedication is being planned for Friday, August 14^th.  More details on the dedication will be released in the near future. 

Fischer Excavating from Freeport, Illinois is the prime contractor for this $4.5-million project.
