The City of Dixon is pleased to announce that the construction of the Riverfront / Heritage Crossing Project is nearly complete. The project includes a riverfront plaza area with multi-use paths along the south bank of the Rock River from Peoria Avenue to Galena Avenue. On Friday, August 7th, there will be short term closures on River Street for the placement of the black granite cladding that will surround the statue base for the Ronald Reagan “Begins the Trail” Statue. The statue will be set beginning at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday, August 10th. A crane will be used to set the statue, thus River Street west of Hennepin Avenue will have a short-term closure to accommodate the crane. After installation, the statue will be veiled for the remainder of the week and will be unveiled during the Heritage Crossing Riverfront Plaza Dedication on Friday, August 14th. The dedication schedule is as follows: 10:30 a.m. Municipal Band to Play 11:30 a.m. Dedication Ceremony, Unveiling of Reagan Statue, Cutting of Ribbons 12:30 p.m. Musical Friday with Jazzy Jeff 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Variety of Music and Art 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Late Night Blues Brothers 9:30 p.m. Fireworks Everyone welcome! |
