Dixon Police Department Officers conducted a traffic stop on July 21, 2018 at approximately 10:54 p.m. One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified as Justin M. Charleston, age 22, of Dixon, Illinois. Charleston had two outstanding warrants. One warrant was the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation in June, 2018. The warrant was issued for Charleston for Failure to Report an Accident Involving Injury, a Class 2 Felony, and Aggravated Reckless Driving with Great Bodily Harm, a Class 4 Felony. Charleston also had a Lee County Warrant for probation violation that included several charges that included Burglary, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 2 counts of Driving on a Suspended License.
Charleston was placed under arrest and transported to the Dixon Police Department. Charleston was unable to post bond, $200,000 – 10% to apply, and was taken to the Lee County Jail after being processed.
