Travis Petersen, Brandon Linder & Brett Witt

On August 23, 2018 at approximately 6:51 a.m, the Dixon Police Department was advised of a Retail Theft that occurred at Walmart, 1640 South Galena Avenue.  The employees advised a male subject entered the store, filled his cart with several expensive items and fled the store through the emergency exit.  The male was picked up by a blue pick-up truck, which quickly left the area.  The Walmart employees were able to provide a very detailed description of the subject and the vehicle, which allowed Dixon Officers to issue an ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) to several Law Enforcement Agencies.

At approximately, 7:49 a.m., Illinois District 1 State Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Round Grove Road, just south of  Route 30.  The three male occupants were detained until the Dixon Police Department could arrive on scene.  Through the course of the investigation, officers determined all three subjects were involved in the incident at Walmart and would be placed under arrest and transported to the Dixon Police Department.  The following subjects were charged;

Travis F. Petersen, age 40, of Clinton, IA for Theft By an Emergency Exit, a Class 2 Felony, and Retail Theft over $300, a Class 3 Felony.

Brandon L. Linder, age 33, of Clinton, IA for Retail Theft over $300, a Class 3 Felony.

Brent R. Witt, age 47, of Clinton, IA for Retail Theft over $300, a Class 3 Felony, and Retail Theft Subsequent Offense, a Class 4 Felony

All three subjects were processed and taken to the Lee County Jail.  The Dixon Police Department would like to thank the Illinois State Police District 1 for their assistance in locating the vehicle.

Citizens are reminded to call the Dixon Police Department at (815)288-4411 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-Caught-U. (1-888-228-4488)  Callers can remain anonymous and receive rewards of up to $1,000.00 if their information leads to an arrest.
