Register with the Illinois Employment Service

July 14, 2016

Registration for work with the Illinois Employment Service is a general requirement for an individual to be eligible for Unemployment Insurance benefits.  An individual who files a new Unemployment Insurance claim on or after July 17, 2016, and is subject to the registration requirement, must complete registration by logging on to www.IllinoisJobLink.com. Benefits will not be paid until registration is complete. An individual’s responses to questions on the application for Unemployment Insurance benefits will determine whether or not registration is required.

Registering for Employment Services will help connect Unemployment Insurance claimants with thousands of available jobs posted by employers ranging from entry level jobs to positions requiring an advanced degree. Registration also enables employers to find job seekers with skills that are in demand.

Public access computers are available at the library for those needing to complete this step to be eligible for benefits.
