Youth - Library

The youth library offers a large collection of materials - from board books to chapter books, in addition to audio books and magazines.

Library storytimes will resume again in the new year beginning January 9th and 10th.

Tales for Tots
This program is for our youngest library patrons and takes place on Wednesday mornings at either 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. beginning January 10th, and running through April 11. We'll share short stories, fingerplays, games, simple crafts, and the ever-popular Parachute time.  We welcome children ages 18 months - 3 years of age and their caregivers for this 30 - 45 minute gathering.

Raising Readers Preschool Storytime Programs
This program is for children who are ready for longer stories and activities. We'll be sure to include practice with letters, numbers, colors, and shapes along with fun stories, games, and crafts. We welcome children ages 3 - 5 and their caregivers at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday mornings beginning January 9th and running through  April 10th.  Come join the fun!

Thursday Afterschool Family Programs
We invite the whole family to join us once per month for our afterschool family programs.  We'll enjoy crafts, games, and stories designed for wide range of ages.  All programs are scheduled from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Dates for the winter and spring include:

Thursday, January 18: Lego Fun
Thursday, February 22:  Meet the Presidents
Thursday, March 22:  Fantasy and Fairy Tales
Thursday, April 12:  Welcome Spring!

In addition to the above activities for younger children, we are also pleased to offer older children an opportunity to volunteer.  Our young library volunteer program is for youth ages 11 - 14.  This program meets every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. They help with basic library tasks and assist with preparing children's program activities.  These youth also work with younger children during our family event programs and the summer reading program.  No sign-up in necessary, just stop in!
