Computer User IDs and PINs are here!

October 03, 2016

On Monday, October 24th, 2016, Dixon Public Library implemented a Patron Authentication system for its public use computers.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
In order to use one of the public access computers, you will need to enter your patron number and PIN in order to log on.  Just click on one of the four options, and you will be prompted to enter your credentials.

HOW DO I FIND MY PATRON NUMBER AND PIN?
Your Patron Number is the same as the 14 digit number on your library card.  If you don't have a library card,  you will need to ask staff to help you obtain one.  The 4 digit PIN is made up from your birthdate. For example, if your birthday is December 7th, your PIN would be 1207.

WHAT IF IT DOESN'T WORK?
If your library card is blocked because you owe more than $5 in fines,or because your card is expired, you will not be able to log on.  Staff will be able to advise you on what is needed to bring your account back into good standing.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
Use of our public computers went up by 28% in the last year.  At times, the computers are all in use and people are waiting.  This system allows us to implement our existing policies, such as the 90 minute limit.  We also hope that it will encourage more people to become full card carrying patrons of the library and eligible for all of our services.
